WSBA Presents “The Parade” September 2nd, 1972

The Parade Logo

Simply called “The Parade”, WSBA radio put together a big Labor Day weekend event in Downtown Lancaster in 1972. The Parade drew thousands of people and features character balloons, many of which were used in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia.

Each balloon in the parade was sponsored and each sponsorship had a corresponding advertising package with WSBA radio. In this exhibit, we not only present some newspaper coverage of the event but we also have an opportunity to view some sales material used by the WSBA sales team to begin promoting the event to potential sponsors.

Larry K. Scott Calls Into “Solid Gold Saturday Night”

American Graffiti Movie Poster

In August of 1993 the Capitol Theatre in York was humming with the sounds of old time rock and roll as they commemorated the 25th anniversary of the release of the classic movie “American Graffiti.” Larry K. Scott and the WARM 103 gang was on-location for the event however, on the air, it was the nationally syndicated oldies request program “Solid Gold Saturday Night” hosted by Bob Worthington. So, how do you get a break into a syndicated request show with a local event tie in? The answer, call in with a request!
